"A TRIBUTE TO CECIL THE LION" BY ANNA MARIE

REST IN PEACE, CECIL

His mane blew back in gold majestic blends
His face running  through deep African winds
Champion among wilds, swift King among beasts
A dirty man's snare, he was taken from his peace

He knew for whom he lived
He knew not for whom he died

His legend will not speak
Of blood spent for cubs
Or of telling generations
He gave his life for those he loved

His spirit has gone back now, back to our Lord
And a rich man has lost his integrity

At a price he could never afford
The cost for stealing the glory of our Lord

Oh wretched man who are you to steal God's glory?
Oh wretched man who are you to take His magnificent lion?

Oh wretched man who are you to cause His beautiful beast to fall?
Oh wretched man who are you to hang this lion's head on your trophy wall?
