Sanjeev Sethi is the author of three well-received books of poetry. His most recent collection is This Summer and That Summer (Bloomsbury, 2015). His poems are in venues around the world: Off the Coast, Drunk Monkeys, The Bitchin’ Kitsch, The Beatnik Cowboy, and elsewhere. He lives in Mumbai, India.
BIRTHING
Ode of obmutescence
fills the decanter, me and
only me in conference
without any curfew.
The mind hopscotches
when spells
of unknown sequences
merge with meter.
In these live my lines
wheedling me to eclipse
pitchmen of the past
and wear look of lenity.
TETRADS
(1)
I whistle to my ears.
My wheeze bothers just me.
In company I realize
I’m my riff.
(2)
I remember your goose:
tremor of touch.
Were you that innocent?
You switched off the AC.
(3)
There is some comfort
in comforting
the well-to-do.
It costs nothing!
(4)
We had a good run.
You and I.
Some in person.
Mostly in memory.
