A Poem by Joan Leotta: "While Other Flowers Wait for Spring..."

While Other Flowers
Wait for Spring…


Crocus,
clever little crocus,
pokes her head
though
hard ground,
snow, ice. She
challenges
darkness,
captures what warmth
weakened winter
sun can spare—
she blooms.
