Literary Places-Highlight: New London Writers

Our aim is to foster new, old, and emerging voices in literature. We are open to fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, essays, book reviews, travel articles, opinion, and interviews. We are grateful for everything sent to us and will read and consider all submissions carefully.

We are not looking for perfect prose.  We want to hear what you have to say about anything, anywhere at anytime. Give us your unique perspective on life, the universe et al. We want this online journal to be one long, playful discussion about your experience.  Our anthology will contain some of the highlights of that discussion.

We enjoy writing that crosses the boundary from the known to the subtler, less defined regions of existence. We hope to encounter voices that speak to us on different levels, appealing to the spirit and the senses – writing that explores multiple dimensions:  psychological, sensual, emotional, logical, comical, spiritual, physical, visceral, rational and irrational.

We love words that live and breathe, words that leave an imprint on memory, words natural and unnatural, true and untrue.

James Joyce:

Poetry, even when apparently most fantastic, is always a revolt against artifice, a revolt, in a sense, against actuality. It speaks of what seems fantastic and unreal to those who have lost the simple intuitions which are the test of reality; and, as it is often found at war with its age, so it makes no account of history, which is fabled by the daughters of memory.

Virginia Woolf:

It is only a question of finding the right words and putting them in the right order. But we cannot do it because they do not live in dictionaries; they live in the mind. And how do they live in the mind? Variously and strangely, much as human beings live, ranging hither and thither, falling in love, and mating together.
