Those Eyes are Watching You!

Those eyes are watching you,
Hundreds of them, everyday
Scores of pairs, everyday
Those eyes, trying to rip apart;
The confidence you have in your skin
The resilience which you carry in your heart,
That brightness which you wake up with
Oh girl! They want to fade them all.

Watch them, walk by your side
Call you names which you can’t confide;
See those eyes, trying to shrink your identity
Commodify your body, objectify your soul
Doesn’t that kill you enough, to stand on your own?

Poor girl, who gave you the freedom to
Dress like you dress
Act like you act
Think like you think
Drink what you drink!
Don’t you know the world belongs to them!
There they are, ah! Staring at you again.
