The Great Teacher Whispers

I awoke early one summer morning, gathered water from the stream and found berries to share with my Grandmother. We ate cornbread with honey and she told me that this day felt special; almost spiritual. She explained that the day before a Great White Snowy Owl was perched on the great oak tree for hours watching over our home. I told her I wanted to go to the orchard and get some fruit for lunch. As I walked through the beautiful meadow, that warm summer's day, a voice suddenly called to me, "Hello Little One." I knew at once my Grandmother was right, it was a special day, as the Great Spirit was speaking to me. "Do you see those wildflowers"? He asked. "Yes", I replied. "And what exactly do you see"? he questioned. "It is a wonderful garden of many different flowers", I said. "Would you like it just as well if I had made them all one color, one design," he asked? "It would still have been pretty, but kind of boring", I replied. He then whispered, "And so it is with all the people from all the different countries all over this Planet. I made them of different kinds, different colors, speaking different languages. One is no better than the other, and it is the same with the Animal Kingdom as well. All life is part of the Great Wheel and it pleases me that, because of all their differences, they have made Mother Earth a magnificent colorful garden." With that, he said, "Goodbye Little One, enjoy all the beauty and life surrounding you". I said "thank you Great Teacher", and as I walked away tears of happiness filled my eyes and renewed love filled my heart, I turned back to look, and saw a Great Snowy Owl rising over the trees and up into the clouds, and at that moment, I found a deeper understanding of my place here on Mother Earth.

Remembrance of Lilac Days  R4

March of the Lion, roar with desire
winter exhaling, Spring takes a breath

Lilac aroma will waft through my home,
a Crystal Vase placed sweetly there.
It's been so long since Mom's passing
many good times penned in my journal.
Dad lingered on for barely three years
then laid down beside her for life eternal.
I now reminisce about the Chevy wagon,
us kids piling in off to the swimming hole.
weekly journeys taken, memory is clear
Remembrances surviving special days.
Another serenade begins this June
I'll arrange my prize in that special way,
whites and purples with a reddish festoon,
more Lilac Days in the Crystal Vase.

A Whispered Hush

Lavender hues with reds and blues;
Secrets held in a whispered hush.
She sneaks away now, given the cue;
The sky exploding in a flurried rush.
For the sun keeps her secret
hidden away within the night.
But the twilight holds her promise
until the breaking dawn's first light.

Dancing to a Heart Song

She carries her umbrella,
but only for the Sun;
she loves the cool rain
softly kissing her face.
Dancing to my heart song;
sweet hugs as we embrace.
My little bit of heaven,
a lady with style and grace.

Dandelion Kisses

Springtime wishes
from dandelion kisses;
the brisk harsh wind
can whisk them apart;
a wetting of the cheek
of the tender and weak;
two souls with one heart
a cherished new life starts.
Loving the warm breeze;
dandelion kiss a spring wish
the Poet's eternal tease.
